Sinus Infection Treatment in Bend

Sinusitis is an infection of the sinus cavities caused by bacteria. It usually occurs after an allergy attack, by environmental pollutants or even a cold. Unlike allergies or a cold, this requires a diagnosis and treatment with an antibiotic to cure the infection. The sinuses can become inflamed and unable to drain after mucus collects there and drains into the nasal passages. If left untreated, it can become chronic, which leads to continuous and long-occurring infections.

Typically antibiotics are used to treat sinus infections. However, an oral or nasal spray, as well as decongestants, can relieve congestion too. Some patients may be resistant to the antibiotics prescribed meaning that makes their infection challenging to treat. Intensive antibiotic therapy may be needed. For severe cases, surgery may be needed to remove physical obstructions leading to sinusitis occurring in patients continuously.

To avoid sinusitis, gently blow the nose and drink plenty of fluids when sick to keep nasal discharge thin. If you have allergies, avoid your allergens. Oral decongestants are also a better course of action than that of nasal spray varieties.
